Remember, remember the fifth of November

More and more people are now opting to celebrate Bonfire night by attending an organised firework display.

It’s not only less expensive – and frankly less annoying to your neighbours – than organising one in your back garden, you’re also likely to get more bangs for your buck!

Each year, local groups put on fireworks displays and we’ve managed to track down a couple of events suitable for spectators both young and old:

Crowlands Golf Centre

Crowlands Golf Centre in Wood Lane, Dagenham, is organising its fireworks display on Saturday November 2 from 5.30 pm

The family event includes a barbecue, music and a fully licensed bar. Admission is Ticket-only and can be booked in advance by contacting the organisers on 0208 9847373.

Barking Rugby Club

If you fancy combining the thrills of bonfire night with the chills of Halloween, then Barking Rugby Club’s Fireworks and House of Horror Zombie Run might be just the thing for you.

The event also takes place on Saturday November 2 at the club’s base in Gales Street, Dagenham.

Doors open at 7 pm, with the firework display at 9.30 pm and a children’s entertainer will keep the little ones amused if they do not wish to participate in the House of Horrors.

Tickets must be purchased in advance from the club, priced £10 for adults, £7 for children and £ 30 for a family of four, by contacting the organisers on 0208 5957324.

At Brookings we are always here to help you make the most of living in the Barking and Dagenham area – whatever you plan to do this Bonfire night, stay safe and keep warm!
