Barking and Dagenham has featured on a list of east London boroughs currently outstripping the rest of the capital for rising property values.
Although neighbouring Redbridge takes the top spot with house prices rising more than £35,000 between February 2017 and February 2018, Barking and Dagenham receives a coveted silver with an average increase of £12,000.
While the borough comes second with regards to the increase in house values, it does take the gold when it comes to being the most affordable in London, with the average price of a house in Barking and Dagenham set at £293,000. This makes the borough an attractive prospect for first time buyers in particular.
Barking and Dagenham’s good fortune with regards to property pricing bucks the trend for the rest of the capital, with over half of London boroughs seeing the average value of homes tumble.

- Redbridge – 8.9 per cent
- Barking and Dagenham – 4.4 per cent
